Hope Award Recipent: Wendy Greenhut
Wendy Greenhut is one of the great crusaders for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. She originally turned to CCFA for support following her daughter Jamie’s diagnosis of ulcerative colitis when she was only 13. Jamie had multiple surgeries, including the removal of her colon, which led to Jamie being diagnosed as disease-free; however, Wendy’s work with CCFA was just beginning. Knowing that not all kids can be cured by surgery, and personally experiencing how terrifying the process of coping with the disease can be, is what motivates Wendy to this day. Since her involvement began in 2011 Wendy has chaired the West Palm Beach Take Steps Walk four times and was the chair for the Murder at the Menagerie in 2015. Wendy has served on the Board of Trustees for CCFA’s South Florida Chapter for more than five years. Her greatest joy and inspiration is being there for other parents who are helping their own children battle their digestive disease(s).
